Larry Ferdinand, Jr., MD
Dr. Larry Ferdinand, Jr. is a board-certified ophthalmologist. He was born and raised in Shreveport, LA. He is the youngest of five with four older sisters. He received his diploma from C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport. During his senior year, he was elected to be on the All-State Academic football team. He graduated cum laude from Xavier University of LA with a major in biology/pre-med in 2001. After finishing his undergraduate education, he worked two years in biomedical research on prostate cancer at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport where he published three articles that were accepted into scientific journals. He went on to complete his medical training at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC in 2007. Also, he finished his preliminary medicine internship at Howard University Hospital along with his ophthalmology training in 2011. He is a member of the American Medical Association, National Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Ferdinand practices comprehensive ophthalmology and specializes in cataract surgery. He likes spending time with his family and friends. He enjoys mentoring, community service, and his fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. And yes, he is a SAINTS fan!
